5 Tips for Weight Loss

During a long weekend, many people might plan parties and feasts, but weight loss is a mission that we've set as a goal. So, how do we achieve it? Tod

Weight loss is one of the most common goals for gym goers. However, many struggle to achieve it.
Trying to lose weight can be a daunting process. You might be wondering where to start, which habits to change and which type of exercise to do.
If you need some help, don’t worry. Read on for some advice to get you started.

1. Set a Goal

Before you start out on your journey, ask yourself why. Do you want to get down to a certain goal weight? Feel more energized? Improve your fitness? Feel more comfortable in your clothes?

Whatever your goal may be, make sure you define it clearly. It’s best to use the ‘SMART goals’ framework. This means your goal should be specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time-bound. The clearer your goal is, the easier it will be to stick to it.

2. Don’t Restrict Your Food Too Much

Contrary to popular belief, extreme dieting is not the way to achieve long-term weight loss. In fact, most diets don’t work. This is because people who diet generally end up gaining the weight back eventually.

You don’t need to cut out entire food groups and only ‘eat clean’. If you restrict too much, this will lead to binge-eating later on. So, it’s best to include the foods you enjoy as part of a healthy, balanced diet. You may lose weight slowly and steadily, but, your diet will be sustainable in the long-run and you’ll have a healthier relationship with food.

3. Plan Your Meals in Advance

Eating healthy can be difficult when you have a busy routine. When you feel stressed or rushed, you might end up making poor food choices. That’s why it’s essential to plan your meals in advance.

When you’re going grocery shopping, plan out your meals and make sure you have all the foods and ingredients you need available at home. Otherwise, you might find yourself ordering fast-food or snacking too much. You can even prepare your meals by cooking big batches each week.

4. Exercise Regularly

Exercise is an essential part of any weight loss regime. There is no specific type of exercise or magical solution for everyone to use. Instead, it’s best to find the type that you enjoy most. It doesn’t have to feel like a chore!

If you enjoy working out, you’ll be much more likely to stick to your routine. Whether it’s running, dancing, yoga, bodybuilding or football, as long as you enjoy it, it will work for you.

5. Get a Workout Buddy

If you’re worried that you won’t be able to stick to your plan and reach your weight loss goals, get a friend to join in with you!

If you’re working out with a friend, you can motivate each other and hold each other accountable. That way, you’ll be much less likely to skip your workouts.
